Do not spend hours exercising as punishment.
Instead, return to your normal routine.
Eat balanced meals, maintain appropriate hydration, continue your usual physical activity, and give your body time to regulate its water and glycogen levels.
Most importantly, learn to look at trends rather than individual scale readings.
A temporary increase after a high carbohydrate meal can disappear as your body returns to its usual state. What matters much more is what happens to your weight over weeks and months.
If your long term trend is moving in the direction you want, one high carbohydrate meal does not erase your progress.
Understanding the difference between water weight and body fat can make weight loss much less stressful. Instead of fearing every increase on the scale, you can recognize that your body is constantly changing and that short term fluctuations are a normal part of the process.
